ANNOUNCES
A
CONFERENCE ON DUAL CITIZENSHIP
|
|
|
The Haitian
Congress for Civic
Engagement (PAC),
in collaboration with
the Haitian
Congress to Fortify
Haiti invites
the Haitian Diaspora,
the Press, the Political
Parties, the Civil
Society, the members of
the
Haitian Parliament and
the public in general
to its international
conference on Dual
Citizenship to be held
on July 23, 2009 at
Karibe Hotel,
Juvénat 7, Petion-Ville,
Haiti.
According to the 1987
Haitian Constitution, it
is during the last
session of the current
Legislature that the
Legislative, upon the
proposition of the two
Chambers or the
Executive, can declare,
with motives to back it
up, that there is
sufficient reason to
amend the constitution.
The last session of the
48th Legislature will
take place from the
second week of June to
the second week of
September of this year.
We recently submitted
our "Proposition
de Loi" to the
President of the
Executive Commission
working on the
proposition of the
amendment of the
constitution, Mr. Claude
Moise.
Dual Citizenship is one
of the important factors
to help
move Haiti towards
progress. Haiti, as
time went by, has lost a
number of its sons and
daughters that represent
a considerable economic
factor and an immense
reservoir of human
resources in terms of
knowledge and
experience.
Thus, we count on your
presence to help make
this conference a
success in order to
convince our leaders to
realize the importance
of Dual Citizenship in
the development of Haiti
and turn it into a
reality for
all Haitians.
The conference will be
begin promptly at
8:00am
and conclude at 4:00
pm. The day
will include a
registration session,
and presentation of our
objectives. Refreshments
will be served.
Participants at the
conference will have the
opportunity to engage in
discussions on the
following interrelated
topics:
_The importance of the
Haitian Diaspora in the
future of Haiti;
_The constitution and
its limitations on the
rights of Haitians who
have become citizens of
other nations;
_A legal Proposition to
be presented to the
Parliament
